Day 61: Trick or Treat!

Today is Halloween and over here it is a big big deal! Everywhere you went today people were dressed in some sort of costume or with some sort of accessory, even the lecturers! A friend of ours offered to take us trick or treating with her kids but I couldn't as I had lectures but Karl went. I had a meeting this morning for a presentation this Thursday and then I went to mass and lunch. Afterwards I spoke to my mum and she is so excited cause as of tomorrow she can say that I come back next month :) At 3pm I went to my lecture where I had to give a presentation and it went really well thank God and I quite enjoyed giving it actually. Anyway, afterwards I didn't feel like going back to my room immediately so I went to Tim Hortons for tea and something to eat which was nice, we had a good chat. On the way back I met Karl coming back from his trick or treating and he was all dressed up with a bucket of candy! Oh well I am off to bed now ... so excited though cause by the time I wake up tomorrow I will have a new member in my family. My cousin's girlfriend is having a baby girl and I can't wait!! First Maltese baby in a long time as the others were all born abroad!! I'll tell you all about it tomorrow. Goodnight.

Day 60: Trivia!

Today was a hectic but good day. I woke up really early cause I wanted to start working as I had loads to do. I did that and at 11am I had a meeting for a presentation tomorrow, I am going to be presenting the DVD 'Pocahontas' and the issues and ideals it presents. After that I went to mass and then lunch and then straight to my history lecture. It was quite interesting today I must say. Anyway then I got the great news that my English class was cancelled and so I had two hours to do some more work which meant less to do when I got back later in the evening. Then I went to my theology class and I got two assignments back which were worth 50% of my final grade and I got 2 A's, I was exstatic! Anyway after that we had a small party for all the theology students and professors and we played Trivia... a sort of general knowledge quiz. It was great fun, I was in the team with Peter Erb, my theology profs and we had a really great time! You want to see the profs competing between eachother... hilarious and so nice to see... not very common. Oh well I got back to my room after almost being blown away on the way there and sat down to watch Pocahontas... oh the memories. Anyway it's 12.45 am now and I'm off... goodnight!

Day 59: Hail!

Today I woke up early as usual to do work. I had a really rough night. It tool me ages to get to sleep and when I finally did I woke up with the rain at 2am, never saw anything like it and then again at 4am panickinh with all the work I have to do! Thank God at that time my mum was up seeing that it was 9am Malta time and I messaged her, and after we 'spoke' for a while I got tired and could sleep again. I ended up waking up again at 8am and decided to just get up and work. I did that till it was time to go for lunch and then I went to meet some friends for a presentation. On my way there it began to hail and oh my did it hurt cause the wind did not stop and it was like a whip on my face! I thought it might be snow at first but I soon noticed it wasn't.. oh well. Anyway, we ended up working for three and half hours as we were making these really cool handouts to give out at the end of the presentation in the form of fans, but we didn't know how long they would take to make so I went straight to mass after and once again the minute I stepped out it began to hail and I got drenched! Mass was really nice today, the music group are great! Afterwards I went back to my room to work on another presentation and now I am watching a dance program called 'So you think you can dance?'. I'll be off to bed though soon as I am quite tired and yet another week tomorrow... I can't believe it time is flying really fast, creepy!

Day 58: Farmers Market

Today, Karl and I woke up early to go to the Farmers Market accross the road. It is a really sweet little place where they sell lots of fresh produce and hand made things and it only opens on a Saturday morning. I really enjoyed it; there was some lovely hand crafted stuff even though I found them a bit expensive and the fruit and vegetables were really really fresh. There were some tables and chairs for people to have breakfast there and they were packed, everyone digging into doughnuts and bacon and eggs. I spent the rest of the day doing some work. There wasn't really much to do today... I did however manage to hit my head on a light fixture in the hall way on my way to my room after dinner though. Don't ask me how, it's a long story.... all I can say is that Karl laughed his head off!! I spent a few minutes working on my puzzle before I went to bed and now I'm off!! Night night!!

Day 57: Parrty!

I woke up today to do some work as I had no lectures. Later I went to mass and then to lunch with Karl. After lunch, we went to the Super Store as I had to buy some snacks for a party I had in the evening. There was going to be a pot luck which basically means that everyone brings food. It was organised by one of the Education students for the rest of the course as her husband was away for the weekend with the kids so she had the house to herself. Before going home we went to my favourite bookstore... I am becoming addicted to that place!! Then I went back to my room, did my laundry and at 6.30 a friend of mine came for me. The party was in Rustico, about 40 min drive away from university. It was a nice evening, we had some interesting presentations...hehe... ate lots of food and had a good chat. Karl in the meantime went to a Halloween party and had quite the costume as you can see! Now I am back in my room and off to sleep, up early tomorrow!

Day 56: Icy!

Today has been the coldest day ever!! It went down to about 6 degrees and I have never ever felt so cold in all of my life!! I woke up to go to my lecture this morning and it wasn't too too bad. After my lecture I went to mass and as I left afterwards it was freezing!!! I just had to walk to the cafeteria, about 2 mins walk and I was dying of cold!!! And then, oh my, to walk back to my room was even worse!! Anyway, at 4pm Karl and I and a friend of ours went to the community centre where we do voluntary work and we spent two hours there. We are planning a presentation for the kids and a day to bring them to university for them to see what it is all about and maybe help them aspire to something like this other than what they are being exposed to at the moment. Afterwards Karl went off to a party so I decided to go to a bookstore accross the road whichi I absolutely love and get lost in for ages. I just love looking through the titles of all the books, I only wish I had the time to read them! Anyway now I am back in the residence, and I am falling asleep. I think it is the cold, it's really getting to me. Anyway, tomorrow I have a sleep over... fun! So my blog might be in a day late. Tell you all about it soon!

Day 55: Halloween Decorating!

Today was a stressful yet stress relieving day too! I had an 8.30 am Education lecture this morning and it was quite enjoyable, it is actually my favourite lecture of the week even though it is three hours long! Anyway, even though I enjoyed it I was quite nervous cause of my exam in the afternoon. After my lecture I went to mass and then to lunch and a lecture and then I had the exam. I was amazed... question after question and I knew them all! I mean the answers were in essay form so I guess it is all about how she interprets them, but I was really pleased. Anyway I had another lecture after that and then I went to the gym which I love doing to relax! Later on at 8pm we had a halloween decorating contest for our building. My building is made up of 4 blocks and each one was competing against the other for the best decorated hall way. I had loads of fun decorating and then we went to see the others, some of them were really creepy. We came second but the judges decided that we all worked so hard that we all get the prize which is basically a pizza party next week... hehe... pizza... I love pizza. Anyway I am exhausted now so I'm off to bed. Night night.

Day 54: Stress!

Today has been a stressful day ! I have my English exam tomorrow and I am freaking out... I always feel so unprepared for exams no matter how hard I work. Oh well what's done is done now I guess. Today I woke up early to study but I got so worried that I was doing the wrong things that I went to look for my lecturer and thank God she calmed me down and told me I was on the right track! Then I had a three hour lecture on Education which was ok but my mind wasn't all there, I wanted to get back and study. Anyway, after I went to have something to eat I went back to my room to do some studying and now I am exhausted can't do any more so I'm off to sleep and hope it was enough!! Next month is going to be a tough one I can see it coming. I have loads and loads of assignments, tests and presentations but then thank god December is easy... I'm going to need a holiday when I get back... hehe yeh right! It has been an amazing experience so far though and I don't regret it one bit... I would encourage anyone thinking about it to go for it! Anyway it's late so goodnight !!

Day 53: Dinner

Today was a very stressful day I have to say but with a nice twist to it too. I spent the morning reading and printing assignments and then this afternoon I had lectures till 6pm. At 6pm a lady named Debbie came for us as she invited Karl and myself to dinner at her house with her family. We got to know Debbie and her family at Church on Sunday, she is such a nice lady and with the most amazing family! Anyway we went over to her house for dinner and had this lovely stew which reminded me of my grandmother's Irish stew which I absolutely adore! And then we had chocolate cake for dessert. It was a really nice evening and a good way to take my mind off things as I was 'highly strung' before I went there. I had an English lecture today and she announced that although we hadn't covered a few topics we would still have them in this Wednesday's test and I am freaking out, I don't know how I am going to manage it! We'll see, anyway tomorrow will determine it for me! Oh well off to bed cause I have to wake up early tomorrow to work.

Sunday, October 22, 2006

Day 52: Pizza!

Today was a full day. I woke up this morning to do work and I was really pleased as I managed to finish two assignments. Then I went to aerobics and lunch and afterwards spent the rest of the afternoon on the phone, had a lovely chat! Anyway, I went to mass and then back to residence to do some work and I finished yet another assginment, that's 3 in one day, record! Anyway when I finished I was quite tired so i settled down to do some more of my puzzle, it has such a calming effect on me. Anyway, later on Karl and I got really hungry and we didn't feel like toast, we decided we wanted pizza. So we found a delivery place on the Yellow Pages and ordered a pizza... it was fun just to do something different. The problem was that we got the wrong size and we ended up with this HUGE pizza!! We were in shock when we saw it...oh well it was still really really good! Now I'm off to bed as tomorrow I want to wake up early to study for my exam on Wednesday.

Day 51: Do Re Mi ...

Oh my goodness I am officially dizzy from listening to too much singing. It is 2.30 am and I just finished watching a movie which, from beginning to end was one song! I promise you it did not stop. Oh my goodness. The name of the film was 'Rent'. I mean yes I knew it was a musical but my oh my too much! Even the story wasn't exactly great. Anyway the only thing that saved me was my puzzle. For those of you who don't know I am a jigsaw puzzle freak and I am collecting the Anne Geddes set.(She is a famous childrens photographer) Anyway, before I left for Canada someone who knows me very well and knew that puzzles are what calm my nerves when university gets too much gave me a puzzle to take with me and today I decided to open it as it is greatly needed! So ... I woke up this morning to do some work, went for lunch and then worked more and more till about 9pm when I couldn't take any more. I decided to open and start the puzzle which is proving quite a feat as I don't have the picture with me cause the box was too big to carry and then later we decided to watch this DVD. Tomorrow is another day of work. I have another big English exam on Wednesday so loads to do!

Day 50: Drunk!

Hehe... got you with that one didn't I? No no I'm joking I didn't get drunk, but I did drink a glass of wine and my goodness the room spun round for a good five minutes! Oh well. So today was an odd day. I woke up and stayed in my room doing some stuff till I had to leave for a meeting to do with the voluntary work I am part of. I then went for lunch and then Karl and I went to the Super Store as we had some shopping to do as we had run out of almost everything. After that we went back to the residence and at 9.15 pm Amy came for us and we went to the house of a friend of hers for drinks... hence the wine. I quite enjoyed it there, we just chatted about some stuff and then at 11pm we got a cab and went to The Wave (the pub on campus) as a 'famous' band was playing called K-OS. Anyway we listened to a few songs, but this guy just didn't seem right. He kept asking for the lights to be turned down and he wore sunglasses and a hood. He was acting quite weirdly and at one point ran off stage and came back with a bag of rubbish and threw it over the people!! Thank god he missed my area! Anyway, he was half way through the show when he just stopped singing and ran off stage! A few minutes later a voice comes on the speaker saying that he is 'not feeling himself' and has had to go back to the hotel. The people were livid, everyone wanting their money back. Later we found out what everyone already knew; he was on drugs and well, he just freaked out. Anyway, Mike and Amy came over to Karl's for a cup of tea then which was nice. It's 2.40am now and I am exhausted and I want to work tomorrow so I'm off. Night night.

Day 49: Phantom of the Opera

I just got back now from watching a beautiful, beautiful ballet; Phantom of the Opera. It was really lovely to see. There was a cast of just eight people and yet they managed to make it seem like there were so many on stage. The ballerina playing Christine and the one playing Raoul were the best. I was in a trance for the whole two hours. Afterwards we went to Tim Hortons for a cup of tea and some Timbits (baby doughnuts). Today I didn't really do much besides work on a few assignments. I had no lectures so I worked, went to mass and lunch. I also went to a community centre in a town close by. Karl and I will be volunteering every week with some kids in this town. I will be teaching dance and Karl drama. Basically they are kids who just need somewhere to go after school as they don't have a very pleasant home background. It was nice though, they are great kids. Not too sure what we are doing tomorrow but I'll let you know in the evening!

Day 48: Sick

Today I woke up feeling really sick. I was really dizzy and throughout the day my blood pressure kept going down. I ended up missing lectures for the first time, but the positive thing is that I got a whole pile of work done. I finished my history assignment, a theology one due in two weeks and a novel I had to read by November. It was a horrible day outside too, so in a way I didn't miss out on much, even though I don't like missing lectures. Anway, I managed to go for dinner and then I came back and watched a program on T.V. Now I'm off to bed cause I'm really tired, don't know why but anyway. Still feeling a bit dizzy but hopefully by tomorrow I'll be fine.

Day 47: My room!

My 'memory' shelf where I put all the things I got before I left and things I received while I was here, plus a few little things I picked up from the beaches and parks over here....

Today I decided to show you guys what my room looks like. This is the place closest to what I can call 'home' at the moment even though it doesn't compare, not even close, but it's quite nice for now. Anyway here it is. Today I woke up early to work on an assignment due for tomorrow. It was a history paper and the topic was 'The Deportation of the Acadians and the Invasion of Quebec', it's quite interesting but still... I know for a fact that history was not my vocation! Anyway, had a really long and good chat with my dear dear mother, went to mass, had lunch and then went back to do some more work. I spoke to my darling gran and then I spoke to Josette and Lexi... I was so pleased! For those of you who don't know them Lexi is one of my closest friends who I haven't seen in ages cause she left for 2 months to India on mission work a month and a half before I left for Canada meaning I wouldn't have seen her for six months by the time I get back!! And Josette is her mother who is like a second mummy to me. :) After that I went to a meeting about some dance workshops I might be giving... news later on... and then I got back to my room, did some work and then watched some T.V. Now I'm off to bed cause I want to wake up early to read tomorrow. Oh, I also bought my ticket from here to Toronto after I finish exams, I leave on the 10th December so then I have 11 days in Toronto before I come back home.

Monday, October 16, 2006

Day 46: Quiet

Today was a very calm and quiet day, I didn't really do much. I woke up this morning and went to meet a lecturer about an assignment and then I went to mass. Afterwards I went for lunch and then to my lectures, and when I got back I did my laundry. Now I have just spent the last part of my evening reading and I also played a game of sudoku... I love that game! I am currently reading a novel which I have to read for my course but it is also a bestseller in all the bookshops at the moment. It is called 'The strange incident of the dog in the night' and it is written from the perspective of a boy with autism and it is really really enjoyable to read, if you can get your hands on it it is worth it. It is comical and very very easy reading. Anyway tomorrow I have alot of work to do. I have a history assignment due for Wednesday and it is a tough one... the deportation of the Acadians... hehe, yes I know... clueless. We'll see what happens, thank god I have a very understandable lecturer!

Day 45: Multi Denominational

Oh my... what to say... exhausting but interesting. As part of my theology course I had to go to two services of any denominations I decided to go to and then write an assignment on each as 50% of my final grade. I decided to go to both of them today with a friend of mine Linda. So we met at 8.30am and walked down (about 40min) to town and went to an Anglican service. It was really really interesting and we were immediately welcomed by I don't know how many people! The service was really nice, everyone had a chance to do something, even the tiny kids! Anyway as soon as that was over we went to a First Baptist Church which was equally nice. They had a live band, brillian pastor and once again the people were so welcoming! This service however was about 2 hours long. We walked back to the university and on the way there we stopped for tea at Tim Hortons and then we went to 'have a look' inside a bookshop and we spent 1 1/2 hours there! It had one of the largest range of books I have ever seen and I wanted to buy the place out but I have no time to read! Anyway I eventually got back and went for lunch and after doing some reading I went to mass and then back to the residence to do some work. I was too tired to work though and Karl and I ended up watching this program called 'Think you can dance' which is really good, a type of Amici/Fame Academy with just dancing ... anyway my sort of thing. Now it's midnight and I'm off to bed, another week of work awaits!

Day 44: Theatre

Just got back from the theatre... lovely. This evening there was a show at the theatre in aid of a home for battered women and children, and it was really lovely. We went with Amy and Mike's parents (Mike was working) and we had a really lovely time. There were so many good singers and dancers I was impressed. One thing that really impressed me was a young boy who is quite well known and he brought a school friend of his along, a ten year old $girl who was blind and so sweet and they sang beautifully together. There were other great singers too and fiddlers, tap dancers and so much more!! Afterwards we went to Mike's house and met him there and just spent the evening chatting and ordered pizza from 'Domino's Pizza' ... amazing! This morning I didn't really do much. I woke up to do some work and then went for lunch. I then panicked with Karl for about an hour when we noticed that practically all the flights out of the island in December are fully booked and so we need to book asap or we are stuck here! Anyway then I spoke to my dear Nanna Tina on the phone and then my mummy:) Had a good chat!! Then some more reading and off to the theatre! It was fun... had a nice day. Tomorrow is going to be a long one though, lots to do!!

Friday, October 13, 2006

Day 43: Shopping!

Today was a nice day. I woke up this morning to do some work, thank God I managed to wake up early! Anyway I did some work, went to mass and lunch and then back to the room to do more work. At about 5pm Karl and I went to the bar on campus 'The Wave' to meet some people and then after we went to do some shopping at a mall about 30 min walk away. I managed to get a few things and I am really pleased. Anyway, we were meant to go out with a few friends of ours this evening, but by the time we got back to the residence which was about 10pm I couldn't take walking any more, so I stayed back and Karl went out. I just relaxed a bit and now I'm off to bed cause lots to do tomorrow!!

Thursday, October 12, 2006

Day 42: Boot Camp

Today was an O.K day... well sort of. Nothing really happened, but I guess that was the problem, I got quite bored. I woke up and went to my morning lecture on Inclusion, went to mass and then to lunch. When I came out of the dinning hall I was greeted by pouring, whipping rain and really really strong wind... amazing, I was fighting against it all the way back to Residence and it was tough!! Anyway I then did some work for the rest of the afternoon evening and at 8pm I decided to go to an aerobics class as I couldn't take it inside anymore, so I wrapped up like I don't know what and off I went. Today's session was called 'boot camp' and it was tough. The worst was when we were made to use these poles which were weights and my arms really hurt! But I felt good afterwards, always do after a good work out. Anyway I came back, watched my usual Grey's Anatomy and now I am going to bed to do some reading cause I don't know what else to do. Yes, you guessed it, I am really bored so ignore the pessimism :) Oh well tomorrow is a new day so we'll see what happens!!

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

Day 41: Results!

I finally got my English exam results back and I am really pleased with the result considering that I thought I had done really badly. I got a 40/50 so that's good. Today was my usual full day but it wasn't too bad. I had a really interesting lecture this morning (Foundations in Education) about bilingualism in the classroom and how our own experience with bilingualism will effect us as teachers. Then I went to mass and I got to read today which I have discovered I really enjoy doing! Anyway I went for lunch and then to the rest of my lectures till now...9pm. I am just going to do some reading now and then I'm not too sure what I will do, we'll see. I have alot of work to do in the next two weeks, but my exam time-table came out and the my last exam is on the 7th December so I finish university very early so maybe I'll have a chance to do some sight-seeing, would be fun. Anyway, at the moment I am just content doing work, it's proving to be very fruitful!!

Day 40: Aerobics

Today I got back to work. I woke up early so that I could do some reading and then I went to mass. Afterwards I went back to my room and spoke to my mother on the phone... I love hearing her voice! Anyway then I had to go and meet some of my course mates as we had a presentation today which went really well thank God; we had a really cool intro. to our presentation on indiginous cultures (as you can see in the pic.) ... and I really enjoyed watching the other presentations too. I am currently finding it really difficult to type as I cut my finger this morning peeling an apple and can't use it. Anyway after class I rushed back home, changed and went for an aerobics class... I had so much fun. It was a step class and oh my did my feet hurt but it felt good!! :) Anyway we went for dinner and then decided to watch The Crucible but the DVD jammed so we only watched half so I took it as a sign that it is time for bed. So I'm off, need my rest cause tomorrow is a long day. Time is flying... a bit to quickly I think but I guess it means that I am enjoying it so that's good.

Day 39: Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is officially Thanksgiving Day so I want to wish everyone who is reading this a huge Happy Thanksgiving. While the Canadians may be thankful for the crops and all that has happened in their land, I am thankful for my friends and family. For every experience I have had in my life and all those people who make my life that little bit more special. I'd also like to say a big HAPPY BiRTHDAY Mike!!! You're finally 18 and you can start giving me lifts now !;) Hope you have a really great day! Anyway, today was quite a movimented one. I woke up and went downstairs to play with Cadence, had breakfast, packed and very sadly said bye to everyone and left for the airport at 12pm. A taxi came for me, and I got to the airport with enough time to spare to go round the shops, have a drink at Starbucks as I read a book and walk calmly to my gate. The flight to P.E.I was a good one thank God, not at all bumpy. Dr.Baldacchino and his wife kindly came for me and when I got back to the uni Karl and I went straight to do our laundry and have dinner. Now everything is back in it's place and it's quite late so I am off to bed as I need to wake up early tomorrow to catch up on some work. It has been a really great weekend, a good break, but now it's back to work for me. I don't mind though... it's what I'm here for at the end of the day! Anyone who is interested in knowing what Thanksgiving day is all about, check out this site... it's nice and short! http://www.twilightbridge.com/hobbies/festivals/thanksgiving/canada/

Day 38: Thanksgiving Dinner

Today was a great day. We got up early and went to mass at the Cathedral. The priest gave an amazing homily on the values of the world today and how we are forgetting about the simple things which at the end of the day are the most beautiful. After mass we went back to the house to prepare for the big dinner. I peeled loads and loads of potatoes and have the blister to prove it, but it was fun!! Slowly, people started to arrive, but I have to say that my favourite was Cadence this 2 year old angel who is so so cute and talks like she is 10 years old! She is obsessed with Josh Gruben, the singer I fell in love with yesterday. As the day went on more and more people came to the house and we had fun chatting and snacking. Later on we decided to go for a really nice walk to the woods and that was great fun! When we got back we had this HUGE and DELICIOUS dinner waiting for us, from turkey to pork to potatoes to vegetables to stuffing, to bakes pears to pumpkin pie... and it goes on and on. Amazing. It was such a great day, I am exhausted now and off to bed. Tomorrow it's back to uni and then I start school again on Tuesday, as tomorrow (Monday) is actual Thanksgiving.

Saturday, October 07, 2006

Day 37: Turkey!

Today was a fun day. I woke up and had a lovely breakfast of fruit and bagels and then I went with Ron to pick up the Turkey... my first thanksgiving turkey ever! That was fun. We are having a big thanksgiving lunch tomorrow even though the actual day is on Monday, but it is easier for everyone to get together tomorrow. Joyce did most of the cooking this morning and she set up a beautiful table! Anyway, I am really looking forward to tomorrow it should be fun. After going for the Turkey, poor Ron took me shopping to this huge mall called the Pen Centre and I finally managed to buy a jacket... it's really nice, I am so happy with it! I also bought a pair of Converse trainers and these really pretty ballerina style shoes which I love. After that we went to this place called Chapters which is a book store with a Starbucks cafe attached to it and you can buy a book and have a coffee and read it there. It's a really lovely place. This evening Shelley (a friend of mine I met when I was here last) came over for dinner which was nice and after she left the three of us watched a film ... no comment. Anyway now I'm off to bed looking forward to a great day tomorrow!! A few weeks ago I wrote about how I went to an Irish pub and there was this great Irish band... anyway I managed to download a video clip so if your interested just click on the link to watch it!... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hw60tl-8iKQ

Day 36: Great Day!

Today was a lovely day. I slept really really well in my bed; I have a big double bed which is so high and soft I 'fall' into it! I went down to breakfast and had a really lovely chat with Ron & Joyce. Then I went to mass in this beautiful cathedral all stained glass with Ron. After that we went shopping and we shopped till we dropped...poor Ron I really felt bad for him! While we were in the car Ron had a CD playing of a young singer named Josh Groban and he is absolutely amazing... the next music store we went into I had to buy his CD. Anyway we shopped some more and then went to eat at a lovely pizza place. Now we are back home and after spending some time chatting to Joyce I am off to bed cause I am really tired. I posted some pictures of the house I am staying in... I think it is one of the nicest houses ever... in my opinion at least!

Day 35: Back to Toronto!

I am back in Toronto. This weekend is Thanksgiving weekend and so we get Monday off and since I have no lectures on Friday I could come here for the long weekend. I am so happy, at the moment this is the place I can call home and I am so pleased that I am here. The people I am staying with, Ron & Joyce, are so warm and loving, and I feel so comfortable with them. Anyway, this morning I went to my lecture as usual and then to lunch. Afterwards I went to my room to pack and them to the Super Store to develop my photos which came out great! Then I got picked up and taken to the airport... thank you so much Margaret and Patrick!! Now I am here. The flight was great and so was the drive here. We just had a lovely dinner of Rabbit and spaghetti... delicious. It is now 12.40 am and I am off to bed!

Day 34: I fly tomorrow!

Today was, as usual, my longest day of the week. I woke up in a huge panic as I had my presentation first thing in the morning and of course my alarm clock didn't go off. So I rushed through breakfast and made it just in time. The presentation was a huge success. The profs. loved the idea of the DVD clips we used and thank God the weather was great and we managed to go out to the gazebo and she loved that even more! Anyway, after mass and lunch I went for the rest of my lectures and I got my history assignment back...82! I was quite pleased considering it was on Canadian history and I haven't done a history class since grade 6! After lectures I had to meet some people for yet another presentation which is going to be so so original, but I'll tell you about that next time. Tomorrow I'm off to Toronto for the weekend and I can't wait. I am really looking forward to seeing Ron & Joyce again and I have never had a Thanksgiving either so it will be lovely. I'm off to bed now cause I'm exhausted. Goodnight.

Day 33: Help... the heating is gone!!!

I am freezing... it went down to eight degrees today, and that was in the morning!! Now I don't know what temperature is, all I know is that the heating system in our building has broken down and I am freezing!! Oh my goodness this is cold!! So I started off this morning by waking up at 7am and going for breakfast to Karl. I had breakfast and then stayed on to do some reading while Karl left for lectures. About ten minutes before I had to meet some people for a presentation (11.30 am) I left Karl's room to go to mine. As I reach into my card holder for my card I suddenly realise, that there is no card... I was locked outside and I had just slammed Karl's door too. To make matters worse I was in a T-shirt and socks so there was no way I could go outside in that cold. Anyway to cut a long story short it took me ages till I found someone in their room, the girl with the master key was nowhere to be found, had to call security and wait ages outside my door till he came... he did eventually though. Anyway, went to meeting 30 mins late, had lunch, read, spoke to my mother on the phone, went to lectures, came back, read, wrote an assignment, did the dishes and now I'm off to bed. There that's my day for you!! :) Tomorrow I have a really big presentation and I'm so excited but nervous too. It should be fun though. It is an education presentation and we get to give a lesson outside in a gazebo (hope you spell it like that). Anyway I will keep you posted, goodnight.OH!!! A BIG GOOD LUCK to my dear dear friends who are all starting university tomorrow... I know it's scary and frightening but you will be fine guys... make the most of it you'll soon settle!! Big kiss xxx

Day 32: Rain, Wind and Cold!

Last night it started raining really heavily before I went to sleep... this morning I woke up and it was still raining heavily, I am now writing this and it is still raining heavily. I think you go my point, it hasn't stopped. In the meantime I went to lectures this afternoon but no results... both my lecturers said they were ill over the weekend and didn't finish correcting so now I will have them after Thanksgiving... i.e. next week. I was meant to start aerobics class today and I was really looking forward to it, but of course, thanks to the weather it was cancelled so maybe tomorrow I will have beter luck as ther are classes everyday. Anyway this evening I did loads of reading and now it's 11pm and I'm off to bed to have an early night. P.S: the picture is of the beautiful lawn that I have outside my building which you have seen in previous pics, it is now a very nice place for birds to have bath time in.. . from lawn to lake. Night night xxx

Day 31: Great Expectations

Today was a relaxed day. I woke up to do some reading and later on in the day I went for lunch and met alot of my friends so we spent some time chatting there and it was good fun. After lunch I went back to do some reading till 6pm mass, which I love. The priest is great, the music is beautiful, led by a group of girls with angelic voices, and you always chat with some people before you leave and I enjoy that. Anyway, after mass Karl and I decided to watch a DVD we rented from the library... Great Expectations by Dickens, and it just finished now, it's three hours long, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. In the meantime I took my clothes down to be washed and am about to go and get them out of the tumble dryer... which is something I always do in fear and trembling. Anyway, yet another week beginning tomorrow so I'm off to bed. Goodnight.
